AIA is proud to support Marae DIY.
Marae DIY is a high-energy Maori TV programme that brings whanau, iwi and hapu together to rebuild their marae. In its eighth series, the programme focuses on teamwork and the ‘Power of Iwi’ working together to achieve a common goal.
Our sponsorship of Marae DIY went much deeper than being just financial. During filming, AIA staff worked side-by-side with Marae DIY crew, iwi and the local community on marae for three or four days hammering, shovelling, painting and planting. They shared stories, cooked and ate kai together.
“It was wonderful to have a sponsor on board, but even more fantastic to have a sponsor who has wholly embraced our programme and kaupapa of the series,” says Philly de Lacey, MD of Screentime, Marae DIY’s production company.
For AIA, the experience had an even more profound effect on our staff, many of whom hadn’t had the opportunity to visit a marae before.
“I have never been so proud to be a Kiwi. I worked with such fantastic people and am truly grateful for the opportunity to experience such amazing community spirit. It was worth the sore back 1000 times over!” said Vaughn Wellington, AIA Distribution Development Manager.
