The focus of our CSR programme is helping people to live healthier, longer, better lives.
Our commitment to a wide ranging and impactful CSR programme is a key element to achieving our dream to champion New Zealand to be the healthiest and best protected nation in the world, and to our Brand Promise of helping people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.
We are proud of the work being done by our employees to give back to our communities and strive to provide them the encouragement and resources needed to support a diverse range of initiatives.
Charity Partnerships
AIA NZ was proud to launch partnerships with The Heart Foundation and the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand in 2019. Our AIA Vitality members can choose to donate their weekly active benefits rewards to these partners, and we drive further engagement with our members and staff to raise awareness and additional funds.
In 2020 we expanded our charity partners to include Trees That Count, recognising the environment has a direct impact on the health and well-being of our customers, our employees and our communities, and helping to deliver on our commitment to sustainability.
Employee Volunteer Programme
AIA NZ values giving back to the communities we operate in, and the positive impact this has on our volunteers. Permanent employees receive one day of Community Leave each year, which can be used in two half days. In 2019, 226 employees volunteered their time across a range of causes supporting our communities.
Planting for the future
Taking action to drive positive environmental change is one way AIA can support greater health and wellbeing, while also helping to grow a cleaner and greener Aotearoa.
Providing Aid in Times of Need
AIA NZ celebrated AIA Group’s Centennial in March 2019 by raising $100,000 in peer to peer fundraising and donations for the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand, which they were able to allocate to supporting victims and communities affected by the Christchurch Mosque shootings via the All Right? wellbeing campaign and resources.
In June 2021 AIA NZ joined with AIA Australia to support the ‘Relief Run’, a global virtual run to support India’s COVID-19 crisis. The trans-Tasman business contributed $30,000, as well as encouraged support from AIA Vitality members, partners and employees. Funds raised by Relief Run went towards World Vision’s Covid-19 India crisis appeal for equipment and supplies which included beds, oxygen concentrators, food vouchers and tents for temporary Covid-19 care centres.
The India COVID crisis was further supported by AIA Group, who contributed USD$2.5 million toward relief efforts via the Taj Public Welfare Trust.
AIA NZ Relief Run for India
Around 150 of the team took part in the global initiative Relief Run, co-created by Australian AIA Vitality Ambassador and endurance athlete Samantha Gash, which last year raised more than AU$1 million in support of Australian bushfire relief efforts.
