Support for Cyclone Gabrielle

AIA NZ is here to support our customers when they need us most.

To help support those most severely impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle, AIA NZ is offering a one-month premium waiver. Applications for the offer can be made from 20 February 2023.

This offer is open to customers severely impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle who have suffered damage to either their home or business and are living in Northland, Auckland, Hawkes Bay, Gisborne, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Wellington or Manawatu-Wanganui.

To make an application for the offer, customers will need to either:

provide evidence of either a house, contents, vehicle or business insurance claim they have lodged as a result of Cyclone Gabrielle; or
provide photographic evidence of significant damage to their home or business as a result of Cyclone Gabrielle; or
have been displaced from their home as a result of Cyclone Gabrielle.

Qualifying Policies are:

AIA Risk and Health policies 
The following ASB policies:
- ASB Lifestyle Security Plan
- ASB Private Health 
- ASB MyProtection
- ASB Easy Life and Living 
- ASB FlexiLife
- ASB Absolute Health
- ASB MajorCare
Customers who hold an ASB insurance policy that is not mentioned above, may be able to apply for alternative support via ASB.

Please note that Savings, Investment and Group Products are excluded from this offer.

The one-month premium waiver (the “waiver period”) will be applied to your policy within one month of applying for this offer and is based on one full month's premium for that policy and all qualifying benefits under that policy.

Supporting Customers severely impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle - One Month Premium Relief Offer (the “Cyclone Premium Relief Offer”) – Eligibility Criteria

The Cyclone Premium Relief Offer is offered by AIA New Zealand Limited of 74 Taharoto Road, Takapuna, Auckland 0622 (“AIA”).
Applications for the Cyclone Premium Relief Offer are open to eligible customers of AIA New Zealand Limited and ASB Bank Limited from 20 February 2023 and close on the 31 March 2023.
To be eligible for the Cyclone Premium Relief Offer and receive a one-month premium waiver, eligible customers must:
- hold a Qualifying Policy (see above) that was in force as at 16 February 2023;
- live or work in one of the following regions of the North Island: Northland, Auckland, Hawkes Bay, Gisborne, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Wellington or Manawatu-Wanganui; and
- have been severely impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle (customers must have either: suffered damage to either their home, vehicle or business (which is evidenced by either a house, contents, vehicle or business insurance claim lodged as a result of Cyclone Gabrielle); or suffered significant damage to their home or business as a result of Cyclone Gabrielle and provide photographic evidence of such damage; or have been displaced from their home as a result of Cyclone Gabrielle).
  
  AIA may request additional information from advisers or customers to support an application for the Cyclone Premium Relief Offer. AIA may decline an application if AIA reasonably believes that a customer does not meet the eligibility criteria.
The Cyclone Premium Relief Offer is not available for lapsed policies, or policies subject to cancellation requests. The Cyclone Premium Relief Offer cannot be claimed in respect of policies that have received a premium waiver under the AIA Upper North Island Flooding Premium Waiver Relief Offer that commenced on 31 January 2023.
A single one-month waiver will apply per policy.
Eligible customers who pay annually upfront will receive a refund, rather than a credit to their customer account and the 5% discount for paying annually will also be applied to the waiver period. This will be paid into the bank account held on the policy details or to a nominated bank account.
Regular premiums will commence following the waiver period.
Claims can be made during the waiver period.
AIA reserves the right to vary, suspend or terminate this offer and these eligibility criteria at any time. These eligibility criteria are governed by and are to be construed in accordance with New Zealand law and shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
All decisions made in relation to this offer will be made by AIA at its sole discretion and no correspondence will be entered into.
To the extent permitted by law, none of AIA, or any of their respective directors, employees, and/or agents shall be liable for any claims, damages, injuries, costs and expenses suffered, sustained or incurred (including but not limited to indirect or consequential losses) as a result of, arising out of, or in any way connected with, this offer.
