The amount of life insurance you choose should depend on what your loved ones will need for those first years if you pass away. To calculate this, consider your rent or mortgage payments, any debts they’ll need to cover, childcare and education fees, everyday household expenses like food, power, rates etc. and funeral costs.

Each year you will notice your plan charge will automatically increase as you get older and as your cover increases in line with inflation.

Step 2: Wait for your claim to be assessed
Once we’ve got all the information we need, our team will assess the claim and be in touch throughout the process.
Step 3: Receive payment in the nominated bank account
Once the claim is approved, your family will see the lump sum paid into the bank account they gave us.
You should also consider updating your will at the time of buying your plan so your family or beneficiaries of your life cover can access it quickly through your estate.

Step 2: Wait for your claim to be assessed
Once we’ve got all the information we need, our team will assess the claim and it should take about 3 – 5 working days, after which we will be in touch.
Step 3: Claim approval
Once your claim is approved, your payments will start after your wait period has finished. Your payments will be paid to you versus your landlord or bank.
Step 1: Log into your MyAIA account and submit your claim via My Health Claims

Step 2: Claims assessment
Once we’ve got all the information we need, our team will assess the claim and it should take about 3 – 5 working days, after which we will be in touch.
Step 3: Receive payment in the nominated bank account
Once the claim is approved, the approved amount will be paid into the nominated bank account you gave us.
Life Cover and Rent or Mortgage Protection both provide worldwide cover. Whether you’re at home, travelling or living overseas for any period, you remain insured.
Specialist and Diagnostic Testing only covers the costs of specialist consultations and diagnostic tests carried out in New Zealand.
AIA Starter Plans do not provide any cover for redundancy.
AIA Starter Plans do not contain exclusions for pandemics. If you need to make a claim related to COVID-19, as with any other claim, you will need to meet the ordinary eligibility requirements for your cover.
