With AIA NZ’s commitment to helping people lead Healthier, Longer, Better lives, it’s no surprise that health, wellbeing and high performance is a reoccurring theme in recent adviser-facing appointments. We’re proud to welcome the following new faces to the AIA NZ team:
Tim Coltman, Business Development Manager – Southern
High Performance is something Tim Coltman knows well. Having joined the AIA NZ team in April 2021, Tim has an extensive background in high performance sport, both as a sailor, coach and event manager. He’s held roles with Sport NZ, High Performance Sport NZ, and Snowsports NZ so understands what it takes to be the best.
He also recently worked as Sponsorship Manager for the Rhythm & Alps Festival, and as Sports Manager for Winter Games NZ, one of the world’s leading snow sports events.
Tim brings solid planning, negotiation, and project management skills to his new role at AIA NZ, as well as a clear desire to deliver great outcomes for his clients. “One of the things I’m particularly excited about is the AIA Vitality programme, as I see it as a way I can continue to help improve the health and wellbeing of New Zealanders,” says Tim.
Tim is based in Wanaka and services the lower part of the South Island from Timaru and Dunedin through Central Otago to Invercargill.
Anna Corbin, Business Development Manager – Lower North Island
Anna brings almost 10 years’ experience as an adviser to her new role with AIA NZ, having grown her own small advice start-up into a high performing business. This experience has positioned Anna well to work with advisers, supporting them to deliver great advice and develop their business.
Prior to running her own business, Anna spent 12 years with IAG New Zealand in a variety of leadership roles, excelling in key sales and service measures.
As a former international cricketer, Anna knows what it takes to reach peak performance even in the toughest of conditions. She remains active within the cricket community, coaching and mentoring the first XI at a local college. Besides cricket, Anna has rediscovered a love for playing football where she enjoys the comradery, and of course, a touch of healthy competition.
Anna is based in Wellington and is responsible for servicing the Whanganui, Wairarapa and Wellington areas.
Rakesh Masalawalla, Business Development Manager – Wellington
Rakesh joined the AIA NZ team in March 2021, bringing with him over 25 years’ experience within the insurance and trustee industries, working with brands such as AMP Wealth Management and Perpetual Guardian.
With his outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, and strong commitment to client and business success, Rakesh has hit the ground running in his new role working closely with key advisers in the Wellington region.
“With great products such as AIA Vitality and the new Cancer Care offering, I am looking forward to working more closely with my adviser partners and onboarding new business to assist them to achieve their growth goals,“ says Rakesh.
A Petone supporter since way back, Rakesh is also an active tennis player, gym goer and mountain biker. Rakesh is based in Wellington and services the wider region.
Hannah Anderson, Business Development Manager – Christchurch
Hannah joins the AIA NZ team in June 2021, with a strong background in Business Development from Coca Cola Amatil. She also spent several years as a cabin crew manager with Air New Zealand, with strong customer service and relationship management skills.
Hannah also worked as a group fitness instructor with Les Mills and represented NZ in Bodybuilding, understanding first-hand the importance of the four AIA Vitality pillars: Think Well, Move Well, Eat Well, and Plan Well.
We’re delighted to have Hannah join the team, and know the skills and determination she demonstrated to reach the peak of her sporting field will also help her to support advisers to reach their goals.
Hannah is located in Christchurch and is responsible for the wider Canterbury region.
Laura Holyoake – AIA NZ Vitality Coach
Laura has been involved with AIA Vitality since its launch in New Zealand in 2019, and has now stepped into the key role of AIA NZ Vitality Coach.
Her background in insurance, coupled with her health and sporting background, gives Laura a holistic viewpoint and the opportunity to bring the two together in her new role. From running, biking, competing in ironman, and finding beautiful New Zealand trails and beaches to travel to, Laura is heavily invested in living her ‘healthy’ each and every day.
“I want to empower people to make small healthy changes to live life to the fullest. I hope that by evolving the way we talk about insurance and promoting integration of wellbeing solutions, we can champion New Zealand to be one of the healthiest and best protected nations in the world,” says Laura.
“We are incredibly pleased to welcome Tim, Anna, Rakesh, Hannah and Laura to the team,” says Sam Tremethick, Chief Partnership Insurance Officer, AIA NZ. “They each bring their own individual skills and enthusiasm to their respective roles, and we believe these appointments provide the market with a strong indication of our future direction, as AIA NZ looks to reshape and continue to grow its distribution footprint.”
As the industry continues to adapt to new regulation and changing consumer demands, Tremethick suggests “we have a lot to learn from other industries and high-performance sport. As an industry it is important we look for ways to grow and evolve by ‘training smarter, not harder’ and looking for ways we can continually improve. Our new team members have demonstrated they can compete at the highest levels, and their ability to share this knowledge will no doubt help advisers take their business to the next level.”
