    Corporate Solutions Making a claim

    We know making a claim is often a result of a difficult time in your life. It is the time when you need us the most. With one of the largest and most experienced claims teams in New Zealand, nationwide rehabilitation support and a transparent claims review process, we are here to support you every step of the way.

    Claims process

    • Understand your cover

      The adviser for your Corporate Solutions scheme will support you through the claims process, working alongside the policy owner and AIA. They will also support you with understanding the cover you have in place and provide you with any policy information required.

    • Get your documents ready

      The more you can prepare, the faster the claims process will be. Depending on the type of claim you are making, we will require different documentation. See the claim types on this page to find out what 's required for your claim.

    • Lodge your claim

      Once you have gathered the initial required documents and completed the forms needed, your adviser or policy owner will lodge your claim on your behalf.

    • Assessing your claim

      One of our claims team will be allocated and will be your key point of contact to guide you through the process while we assess your claim. You and the adviser will be kept in the loop at each stage of the assessment and will be informed if anything further is needed to be able to provide you with an outcome.

    • Your claim outcome

      We’ll advise you, and as appropriate the adviser and/or policy owner, of the outcome of your claim based on the information you provided, along with instructions on payment, or any rehabilitation options where appropriate.

    What do I need for a Life Insurance or Terminal Illness claim

    For the AIA Claims Team to start the claims assessment process for Life Cover the following initial requirements are needed:

    • A completed Lump Sum Claim Form (policy owner)
    • Certified Copy of Death Certificate
    • Certified Copy of Identification for the member
    • Certified Copy of the will (if applicable)
    • Letters of administration or probate (if applicable)
    • Terminal Illness only - A completed Terminal Illness Claim Form (member) 
    • Terminal Illness only - Supporting Medical Information regarding diagnosis and prognosis
    • While the above information is a good start the claims team may require further information to support the assessment of the claim after reviewing the initial information.

    What do I need for a Critical Conditions or Total Permanent Disablement (TPD) claim

    For the AIA Claims Team to start the claims assessment process for Critical Conditions Cover or TPD the following requirements are needed: 

    • A completed Lump Sum Claim Form (policy owner)
    • A completed Lump Sum Claim Form (member)
    • Certified Copy of Identification for the member
    • Any supporting Medical Information regarding the diagnosed condition (including but not limited to GP and/or Specialist notes, Hospital Discharge Forms, MRI/X-ray/CT scan items, histology/pathology items)

    While the above information is a good start the claims team may require further information to support the assessment of the claim after reviewing the initial information.


    What do I need for an Income Protection claim

    For the AIA Claims Team to start the claims assessment process for Income Protection Cover the following requirements are needed: 

    • A completed Income Protection Claim Form (policy owner)
    • A completed Income Protection Claim Form (member)
    • Certified Copy of Identification for the member
    • Any relevant ACC claims information (if applicable) 
    • Any supporting Medical Information regarding the condition (including but not limited to medical certificate, GP and/or Specialist notes, Hospital Discharge Forms, MRI/X-ray/CT scan items, histology/pathology items)

    While the above information is a good start the claims team may require further information to support the assessment of the claim after reviewing the initial information.
