    AIA and ASB ‘Imagine 3 months’ premium free’ 

    Terms & Conditions 

    Overview

    We’re offering customers up to three months’ premium free on eligible new policies (Campaign). 

    The first month premium free is triggered when customers apply for a new eligible AIA or ASB policy between 18 September 2024 and 31 March 2025, and have the policy issued by 30 April 2025. 

    The second month premium free will be triggered if the customer attaches and activates their AIA Vitality membership within six (6) weeks of the policy being issued. 

    The third month premium free will be triggered if the customer reaches AIA Vitality ‘Silver Status’ within ten (10) months of activating their AIA Vitality membership. 

    (Campaign Benefits).

    Eligible policies are:

    AIA

    • AIA Living – Personal
    • AIA Living – Business
    • AIA Private Health
    • AIA Private Health Plus
    • AIA Cancer Care 
    • AIA Start-Up Income Protection


    ASB

    • ASB Lifestyle Security Plan – Personal
    • ASB Lifestyle Security Plan – Business
    • ASB Start-up Income Protection
    • ASB Private Health
    • ASB Private Health Plus


    AIA and ASB staff who purchase an Eligible Policy through full retail channels and attach a retail AIA Vitality membership will be eligible for the Campaign. All other AIA and ASB staff are not eligible for this Campaign.

    Replacement of any existing policy without an increase in cover is not included in this Campaign.

    AIA Starter Plans are not included in this Campaign however they continue to receive the first month free at any time.

    Existing AIA customers are eligible for the Campaign provided they meet the relevant Campaign criteria.

    AIA insurance policies and ASB life, income protection and health insurances are underwritten by AIA New Zealand Limited. All applications are subject to individual consideration and normal underwriting criteria. Conditions apply. 

    Terms and Conditions 

    1. The promoter of this Campaign is AIA Services New Zealand Limited (AIA), with its registered office at 57 Market Road, Epsom, Auckland. 
    2. The Campaign starts on 18 September 2024 at 00:01am and ends 31 March 2025 at 23.59pm (Campaign Period).
    3. To be eligible for this Campaign, the customer must meet the following criteria:
      1. The customer must submit an application to AIA for a new Eligible Policy during the Campaign Period; and
      2. The resulting policy/policies must be issued by 30 April 2025; and
      3. The application must not be for replacement of an existing policy (or benefit) underwritten by AIA unless there is an increase in risk as part of the replacement.
        (Campaign Criteria) 
    4. For the purpose of the Campaign, ‘Eligible Policy’ means any of the following:
      • AIA Living – Personal
      • AIA Living – Business
      • AIA Private Health
      • AIA Private Health Plus
      • AIA Cancer Care 
      • AIA Start-Up Income Protection
      • ASB Lifestyle Security Plan – Personal
      • ASB Lifestyle Security Plan – Business
      • ASB Start-up Income Protection
      • ASB Private Health
      • ASB Private Health Plus
    5. To activate the Campaign Benefits, the customer must do the following:
      1. To trigger the first month premium free, the customer must meet the Campaign Criteria set out in clause 3 above. 
      2. To trigger the second month premium free, the customer must both attach and activate an AIA Vitality membership via the AIA Vitality app within six (6) weeks of the Eligible Policy issue date. Existing AIA Vitality members can trigger the second month premium free if their AIA Vitality membership remains attached and activated six (6) weeks after the Eligible Policy issue date. 
      3. To trigger the third month premium free, the customer must achieve AIA Vitality ‘Silver Status’ or higher within ten (10) months of the AIA Vitality member activating their membership. Existing AIA Vitality members can trigger the third month premium free if they’ve reached Silver Status or higher in their previous AIA Vitality membership year or they reach Silver Status or higher within ten (10) months of their Eligible Policy issue date.

        For the avoidance of doubt:
        • a customer must qualify for the first month premium free to be eligible for the second month’s premium free.  Similarly, a customer must have qualified for the second month premium free to be eligible for the third month’s premium free.
        • Where there is more than one life assured under an Eligible Policy, it is sufficient for one life assured to attach and activate AIA Vitality and to reach Silver Status to trigger the Campaign Benefits.
        • The new Eligible Policy must remain in force to trigger the Campaign Benefits. 
    6. As each of the Campaign Benefits are triggered in accordance with clause 5 above, AIA will credit the customer as follows:

      1. First month premium free:
        The first month premium free will be credited to the customer at the time the new Eligible Policy is issued. The amount credited is based on one full month’s premium for the new Eligible Policy as calculated at the time the policy is issued. Where there has been an increase in cover, the amount credited is based on the increased portion of cover, as determined by us. Customers paying monthly will have their first month waived, whereas customers paying weekly or fortnightly will have these regular payments waived for the first 30 days. Customers paying quarterly or annually upfront will be debited 2 and 11 months (respectively) once their policy is issued.

        Where a partial premium payment is set up to align with other payment dates, a credit equal to one month’s premium will be applied to the policy when it is issued. The credit will be applied to the partial payment, and the balance of the credit will be applied to the first full premium.

      2. Second month premium free:
        The second month premium free will be credited to the customer as soon as possible (but within a maximum of four (4) weeks) from the customer attaching and activating the new AIA Vitality membership (or in the case of existing AIA Vitality members, as soon as possible (but within a maximum of four weeks) following the issue of the new Eligible Policy).  The credit will be applied towards future premiums payable.  For customers paying premium in instalments, the credit will be applied to future instalments until it is used up. For customers paying annually upfront, the credit will be applied to the following year’s annual premium.  In all cases, the amount credited is based on one full month’s premium for the new Eligible Policy as calculated at the time the policy is issued. Where there has been an increase in cover, the amount credited is based on the increased portion of cover, as determined by us.

      3. Third month premium free: 
        The third month premium free will be credited to the customer as soon as possible (but within a maximum of four (4) weeks) from the customer reaching Silver Status (or in the case of existing AIA Vitality members, as soon as possible (but within a maximum of four weeks) following the customer satisfying the qualifying criteria for the third month free).  The credit will be applied towards future premiums payable.  For customers paying premium in instalments, the credit will be applied to future instalments until it is used up. For customers paying annually upfront, the credit will be applied to the following year’s annual premium.  In all cases, the amount credited is based on one full month’s premium for the new Eligible Policy as calculated at the time the policy is issued. Where there has been an increase in cover, the amount credited is based on the increased portion of cover, as determined by us.
         
    7. The free premium amount cannot be refunded or exchanged for cash.
    8. Where the qualifying policy/policies are the only benefits/policies held with us, the monthly policy fee will also be waived for each free month the customer triggers.
    9. Customers will only be eligible for the Campaign Benefits while the new Eligible Policy remains in force. 
    10. AIA Vitality Terms and Conditions apply to membership of the AIA Vitality Programme.  Each AIA Vitality member must ensure their AIA Vitality activity data is uploaded and recorded in the AIA Vitality app so that their points are counted towards their AIA Vitality Status.  
    11. AIA Vitality Membership fees are excluded from this campaign. The Campaign does not apply to complimentary AIA Vitality memberships such as those provided free of charge as a staff benefit. 

      General 
    12. AIA reserves the right to exclude customers from the Campaign in situations where they have not met the eligibility criteria set out in these terms and conditions.
    13. All decisions made in relation to this Campaign will be made by AIA at its sole discretion and no correspondence will be entered into.
    14. The availability of insurance cover is subject to the customer’s application being approved. All applications are subject to individual consideration and normal underwriting criteria. Special conditions, exclusions or premium loadings may apply. An excess may apply for health insurance policies. For full details, refer to the relevant policy document. AIA accepts no responsibility for any delay in the underwriting or assessment of any application. 
    15. All personal information collected by AIA is for the purpose of administering this campaign, an application for AIA insurance and the subsequent insurance policy issued. All personal information will be held in accordance with AIA’s and ASB’s (if applicable) current Privacy Statement available at www.aia.co.nz/privacy and www.asb.co.nz/privacy. 
    16. To the extent permitted by law, none of AIA, or any of their respective directors, employees, and/or agents shall be liable for any claims, damages, injuries, costs and expenses suffered, sustained or incurred (including but not limited to indirect or consequential losses) as a result of, arising out of, or in any way connected with, this Campaign.
    17. AIA reserves the right to, at its sole discretion, vary, suspend or terminate the Campaign and these Terms at any time by posting updated Terms and Conditions online at aia.co.nz.
    18. These Terms are governed by and are to be construed in accordance with New Zealand law and shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
    19. All questions regarding eligibility for the Campaign and these Terms and Conditions, or any dispute arising in connection with the Campaign should be addressed to AIA for resolution. Any decision made by AIA in relation to the Campaign (including in relation to any dispute) is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. Failure by AIA to enforce any of its rights does not constitute waiver of those rights.
