Angela Busby, AIA New Zealand’s Chief Strategy Officer, has been appointed to the Sustainable Business Council (SBC) NZ Advisory Board.
One of six Advisory Board appointments made this year, Busby is looking forward to the challenge, with a focus on promoting sustainable business practices particularly within the NZ financial services sector.
“I am delighted to take up this appointment,” says Busby. “As a proud wahine toa Māori, my vision for the Sustainable Business Council is to use the power of the collective to drive positive change for all New Zealanders and our environment.”
“As awareness of climate change and sustainability intensifies, people around the world are looking to government and businesses to provide value, and sustainable practices and solutions. Gone are the days when people can turn their backs on climate change and its damaging effects on our environment, our economy, and our health and wellbeing.
“Climate change has been recognised as the biggest global health threat of the 21st century, and rebuilding the connection between people and our environment is crucial.”
“At AIA, NZ’s leading life insurance company, we know there is a demonstrable and inextricable relationship between our individual health and the environment. Our behaviours and activities have an impact on the environment, which in turn significantly impact the health and wellbeing of individuals, whānau and communities. We cannot thrive in an unhealthy environment - and the environment cannot thrive when our behaviours are unhealthy.”
“It’s a privilege to have joined the SBC Advisory Board, and together with my fellow board members I look forward to advancing the sustainability agenda for all New Zealanders.”
Busby brings with her a depth of expertise in financial and business sustainability, both as Chief Strategy Officer for AIA with responsibility for the Environment, Social and Governance function, as well as Chairperson of Tahito, a NZ investment company that provides ethical and sustainable investment solutions.
