A healthy gut thrives on three things.
Our digestive system is a miraculous tool - our very own, in-built detoxifying machine. Making sure your gut is in good working order is absolutely central to maintaining good health and wellbeing. When it isn't working as it should, it can cause issues like bloating and constipation. Poor gut health and insufficient fibre intake can also increase the risk of haemorrhoids, diverticular disease, and in some cases, bowel cancer.
Fibre is central to this smooth operating system. Fibre does its magic by passing straight through the small intestine to the large intestine where it gets to work either slowing down the digestive process or adding bulk to keep our bowels regular.
Establishing a healthy intake of fibre is important, but there are other things you can do to help keep your gut healthy too.
